Janell S. Payano Sosa, PhD, serves as the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Neuroscience Postdoctoral Fellow for Creative Forces®: National Endowment for the Arts’ Military Healing Arts Network at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence. Dr. Payano Sosa has presented her work both nationally and internationally on neuroimaging the chronic pain experience in women. She was also an invited poster presenter for the National Institutes of Health 12th Annual Pain Consortium Symposium: Multidisciplinary Strategies for the Management of Pain in 2017. As a neuroscientist, she has experience in structural and functional neuroimaging, protocol writing, and data analysis. She is interested in the protective mechanisms of the brain as it pertains to anxiety-related disorders and chronic pain. She received her PhD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
