Leah Whitmire, MA, MT-BC, is a music therapist with Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Music Therapist and works in the Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. She became board-certified as a music therapist in 2012 and earned her Bachelor’s in Music Therapy from University of Louisville, her MA in Music Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and is currently completing her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Christian Theological Seminary. Previously, Leah worked with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, refugees, adolescents with mental health needs, well adults, and in hospice care, where she started a successful program at Paradigm Health in Indianapolis. Her clinical interests include music-centered approaches in which she has training, such as the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) and improvisational music therapy, as well as focusing on music therapy applications in mental health care.
