Project Director, Flannel & Blade

Thomas Young serves as the Project Director for Flannel & Blade and is part of the Creative Forces®: National Endowment for the Arts’ Military Healing Arts Network National Resource Center and Capacity Team. Thomas has a background that includes theater production, program design, event planning, project management, curriculum development, teaching artist work, landscape architecture, tactical urbanism, urban ecology, public parks, graphic and web design, and creative community development. Thomas has helped to design and execute over 20 regional and national events around the field of creative placemaking, including as the Creative Director for the National Consortium for Creative Placemaking (NCCP). In addition to building curriculum and co-teaching for the Creative Placemaking Certificate program at New England College, he has worked with Looking Glass Creative to produce conferences (in-person and virtual) with organizations like LISC and the NEA (the Our Town TA program), NASAA, NACEDA, ArtPlace America, GIA, Art of the Rural, DAISA’s / Kresge, iD+Pi at UNM / Diné College, NCCP, and more. He is a Founding Partner of Flannel & Blade, the Creative Director for Looking Glass Creative, and a Co-Founder of the artist giving circle Vital Little Plans.
